Oh Tula!

Oh Tula! I finished this quilt from mostly Tula Pink fabrics on the day I found out that Westminster/Free Spirit would no longer be printing fabrics. After 30 years, they are retiring!

This leaves a swag of designers without fabric "publishers" so to speak! Including Tula Pink, Anna Maria Horner, Kaffe Fassett Collective and many more.

Oh, these were our fresh, hippy, boho and bright fabric suppliers! Who will pick them up now?

I seem to recall Tula Pink being with Moda once before, I hope they can pick them up once again.
Imagine how many people will be out of work with over 30 fabric designers' fabrics not being printed anymore.

New changes for the industry. Wouldn't it be great if one really huge entrepreneur bought out the company and everything continued as it has been?

I love this quilt! This one is leaving my home, but I have enough fabric to make myself one of these gypsy boho inspired quilts.

Mine will be perfect as a gypsy fortune teller's cloth... when I get around to making it...

Little gypsy quilt

Hello everyone.

Here is a sneak peek at a quilt top I have been making from Tula Pink fabric with rose applique in the borders. It will only measure about a metre square, but that size quilt can still add so much colour and fun to a space!

It's gone to Mum (Deep Creek Quilting) for professional machine quilting.

A finished quilt! The gypsy girl quilt is completed.

Mum quilted it with strawberries, leaves and strawberry flowers... She calls it "Strawberries and Cream". What a good name!!

I am designing a little quilt from the Alice in Wonderland fabric now. I just have to use it!!

Gypsy Girl quilt top

It didn't take long to finish putting this quilt top together after I found the missing blocks...I even machine-blanket-stitched the label onto the quilt backing .. ohh how virtuous I feel!! While I was at it, I also stitched the label onto the back for the Pieces Of The Past quilt top...

It's much quicker to attach your label before the quilt is quilted, and the label can't be removed without ruining the quilt either... it's a security step...

Call off the search!

Okay, after a day and a half of searching and nights dreaming where they could be... I found the 5 missing blocks I made less than a week ago...

They were in a bag with another project I dug out, looked at and put away again... Gee, I have looked at a few projects over the last week (as shown in my blog...)

But this is what I worked on today...

The blocks are joined - the centre is assembled....

And.. the binding is made (see it in a large coil on the blocks...

I just need to make the borders and join them on. That's a job for tomorrow...

Ooh, I feel virtuous. This one is not going to make it onto the UFO list!! I love a quick machine project every now and then...

Where are they?

I have lost 5 blocks.

I finished making all the blocks and started to arrange them ready for setting in triangles etc.

I can't find five of them!! Sheesh! I was so ready to make this quilt right now!! I brought my machine, etc. out with me today..maybe I left the other blocks at home. I will check thoroughly.

So, what to do? I fancy making a table runner. So.. here is the first block.

Every now and then I feel like quick, easy piecing. Know what I mean?

This is the centre block in the 12 Days of Christmas quilt.

Okay, my quilting seems to be all over the place.... but it's an easy pieced project and some hand work.. That's not too much to ask for is it??

Long Lost UFO

I was pottering around on my day off yesterday and I found this long, lost UFO.

It's part of a borders quilt. I started this quilt in March 2002 (according to the class schedule I found with it). This class is where I first remember meeting Andrea .

Oh yes, I had big plans for this quilt - it was going to go on my king sized bed. You should see the drawings I made on graph paper.. well, that's not going to happen now. These colours aren't really my bag now.. and some of the fabrics well...

Here are a couple of borders ready to attach (above). All I had to do was 3 little pieces of applique on one of the corner blocks. I have done that now, and need to trim the blocks down to fit the border. That is where the quilt will stop.

I thought to myself, "Yeah! I can liberate the rest of the fabric!!" But.. some of it will be liberated in quite a different way.... I wonder what size quilt back it will make if I join them all together??

I love these Meadowsweet fat quarters... I am going to use 21 of them to make a new quilt.

This is the first stage of making the blocks. I have made all 31 blocks up to this stage...

And these are my first completed blocks.

Not much green in these ones... all the colours will spread out in the finished quilt...

This is going to be a nice quick finish!!
