Summer solstice and Ganesha

Ganesha: remover of obstacles. 

I fell in love with this fabric print immediately. I enjoyed every moment stitching, and then I thought "I will just list it at The Spiritual Co-Op Group (facebook) online market, to see if anyone likes it. Bam! Immediately sold. I wonder if I will be able to get more fabric like this. 

I do have an incredible amount of fabric, I've constantly re invested in stash, but it's been a strange time. Sometimes deliveries are open from overseas, and sometimes we've been cut off. There's been a lot of cutting off.

I am really glad that the Italian organic tomatoes and tomato paste are back in the shops. It's too hot and wet to grow here at the moment, so I choose the best flavours I can. My end goal is to buy as much organic as I can.

 

I've dressed up this altar cloth to photograph it.

I love stitching in the tree shadows in the background, then painting glowing gold and green sparkles on the top.

Each altar cloth is backed in 100% quilting cotton. In a variety of prints, mostly sympathetic with the design on the front, sometimes contrast in colour, but same theme.

Witchy altar cloths

This curly house reminds me of The Nightmare Before Christmas movie scenes. It's kind of curly, kind of shadowy.

I love bringing these printed art pieces to life with stitching and painting!

Are these fae or witches? Either way, it feels whimsical, fun, magickal.

Something we all need at these times. I have a 3 of each of these fabrics, I am sure they will be popular.

Eiwa tree

 

When we understand we are all connected, much like the Eiwa tree in the movie Avatar, I can see why these witches/fae are gathering around the magickal tree of all that is.

The mushrooms speak to me of decay, and the tree is of rebirth, with the women dancing around to celebrate Connection and Life.

Vibration: honeybees and sacred geometry

Tuesday sewing group is back at the Olive Branch, although they are now in new premises after being flooded out last January. 

I was going two days a week, not that my son is at kindergarden, and wanted to use that time to work on something for myself, as I've been creating so much for my small business, which just took off like a helicopter! I am so grateful!

But I've had to cut it back to one day a week: Tuesdays. This is what I started with today. I bought some delightful fabric to start a honeybee collage. It's actually huge and will take up about 100-150 centimetres or about 1.5 yards square.

It's a different technique than I've used before. The idea is to iron the fusible web onto the back of the fabric, then trace the shape onto the paper before removing it from the fabric completely. 

It took a bit to get my head around, and I wasn't really prepared to buy 7 metres of fusible web at $30 a metre (the usual fusible web is out of stock of course, with these national supply problems, so the restickable one was there, but it's only 30cm wide instead of a metre wide, and it's $30 a metre. So I feel this will go on hold for a little while.

I also don't want the entire thing to be stiff with fusible web, so a the moment I am thinking about piecing the background instead of layering into a collage.

First we make the honeybee, then we add the background.

Those eyes are from some Anna Maria Horner fabric, and the fruity details on the wings are cut out from a Tula Pink fabric that had little monkeys on it. I will share photos of the fabric next time.

Another one of these Winter Solstice altar cloths is complete.

And this is a very special Metatron sacred geometry altar cloth. Great for an intention grid, and again, commands a lot of attention while stitching. Holding the vibration of the piece.

How interesting that the same day I share my honeybee progress (who is vibrating and making sounds) is the time I start talking about the vibration and frequency of sound!!

I really love the face i stitched into the tree trunk. I made maybe 6 of these, and the face on each was different. You can't get more unique than that.

This precious raven fabric is beautiful to me. I can't get it again. That happens with fabric!! Each bag I've  made with it is different because the fabric is in a different position, and I've appliqued a different rose onto each one.

I made 4 of these, then 2 more. The fabric is gone! I might have more photos to show you somewhere. Let me look.

 

The Sassy Kitchen Witch

The kitchen witch... she is revered in parts of Europe, and oft times travellers abroad will return with puppets or dolls to hang in the kitchen - a Kitchen Witch.


But what is she really?

To me, a Kitchen Witch brings love, healing, nurturing of the family to the process of Cooking.

She stirs in intention and wellness when making healing broths and soups, she uses salt to keep evil away, she brings love to her family with each meal she makes.

So why have a gnarly old witch on your apron when you can have a sassy firey one instead?

I have made a few of these... Just love caring for my family. It's a popular item already. I will be making more of these, indeed.
