Quilts are for loving

Ah, holidays are grand... but it's great to be sewing again...

The cranes quilt will soon be finished with only the binding to go.....
Mum custom quilted it for me...
I was thinking of giving it to a particular friend... but I haven't seen or heard much from him lately... and this is quite a significant gift - I am contemplating other recipients that I know would appreciate it.
I enjoy the excitement of creating, and mixing fabrics... I enjoy the serenity that comes with the soothing of the stitch... but I don't need 80 quilts and wallhangings at home...
I prefer not to sell my creations - I don't think I would get my money back for the time it takes to sew. No, I would rather gift my quilts..
Have you ever gifted a quilt that was unappreciated? I've seen so many end up in cupboards (never used) or on the floor as a mat/rug.. or in the opp shop. It's just not right.... Quilts are for loving... given to show love, and to be used thinking of the love that went into the making.

Cranes

I fell in love with this Japanese crane panel.... then before I could even photograph it, I've added four borders and it's ready to quilt. It's going to be a gift for a friend after it is used as a sample in my LQS.

Oh my... another piece to machine quilt!!

I have the binding on the Saggy Baggy elephant quilt, ready for hand-stitching... I hope I will add another finished item to my 2011 list before the New Year!!
