What the artist leaves out

Now that I've made these two, they are shaking my bones so much that I know I need to order more of this fabric while I can.

These crows/ravens are shimmering, and the egg as a sign of rebirth. Wow! The mushrooms are decay, it's the full cycle of life in this image.

This black lion, is all sparkly, the crystanthemums are sparkly silver, and I've left the moths with no sparkle, and it makes them perfectly moth-y. Whatever that means. It's the artist way of sometimes NOT doing the thing that makes it so special.

I really feel like I need one of each of these for myself.

Witches Altar Cloths

Wow, I really think this altar cloth has it all: phases of the moon, crystals, plants, sacred geometry, stars, and a spark of something else. I've used coloured threads to highlight the design inculding a multi coloured thread for the secret flower of life sacred geometry.

This next altar cloth is titles "The Green Witch".

She is connected to nature, so much so that she looks to be enjoying her garden in the all together!

You can see my offerings at Sew Rainey Sew on facebook.

One of my spirit animals

This purple witch altar cloth has to be one of my absolute favourites. I've quilted circles all over the moon, then sparkled it up with gold fabric paint.

I have freehand stitched words on it from a couple of songs by Amy Steinberg.

I AM A GODDESS. I AM ENOUGH. I AM A QUEEN. I AM SO POWERFUL. WHEN I'M BROKEN OPEN, THAT'S WHEN THE LIGHT COMES IN.

Mioaw. This is "Baby Cat" who is no longer a baby, but that's what the children named him 8 years ago. It's hard to be tough with no balls and a name like that, isn't it mate?

Palm reader altar cloth. I thought this would be a great piece for conducting readings over. It has markings, and then I've used multi coloured thread for the quilting around the words Ive added: 'FATE, YOU, DESTINY, 3RD EYE, CONNECTION, FUTURE, PAST, NOW.

Bat and Raven star together in this altar cloth. I looked up some words that represented both animals, and stitched them into the background.  REBIRTH, MYSTERY, TRANSITION, DIVINATION.

The Arty Broom Broom

Anyone that knows me, sees that I am into colour, not just plain white. So when the beloved found preloved car that fit the bill for me, and it was plain white, he wanted to pep it up a bit for me.

This is my Broom Broom. Get it?

I can easily see my car in the car park, and that brings me a lot of joy!

Even though it's cold, and we were rugged up, we decided to test drive the green car to the beachfront ice cream shop.

This is about the third time my little fella has worn long sleeves since he was a baby.

I found this pattern at the Olive Branch local quilting shop, and decided to get it, and slowly collect the fabric. Isn't that how we justify buying anything and not making it for a while?

Winter Day

Brrrr, it's cold enough to wear slippers, jeans, and a jumper here in the subtropics. So it's the perfect time to bake!

Apple and walnut scrolls. Mmmm. The mostly clement weather here in far north Queensland has me making much more with yeast than I would have attempted when I lived in Victoria.

Before breadmakers came along in the late 90s, I can recall only one time we made something using yeast, and we had it sitting in front of the heater to rise then prove! Only once I saw my parents baking their own bread. It was way too cold.

It's so cold that super dog is shivering, so he's wearing an old jacket that was the little boy's and an old coat that was the old boy's.

Now he's not shivering, he can walk around. But I will keep him here so I can keep an eye on him. Bit of carpet on the concrete to keep him warm. Little love.

All this baking means I only have one altar cloth made, but it's a beauty! I have a few of this fabric, I predict it will go well.

What a selection

Sacred heart of Mary altar cloth

This one with the glowing heart reminds me of Mexican art. They often have a heart with flames coming out of it, or wearing a cross, and that appeals to me on some level that I can almost put my finger on, but may not be relevant to you my friend!

Full moon among the trees altar cloth. Aaah. I loved stitching the branches. It felt so therapeutic.

How strange to be sharing pieces that help to create sacred space with so many people, while feeding my own soul at the same time.

Don't worry. This is another banishment and refresh altar cloth. I have stitched the words REMOVE, REBIRTH, CUT CORDS, LET GO, RESILIENCE, RENEW, RELEASE.

This galactic llama makes me squeal to look at him. He is just so flipping cute!

Maybe he is an alpaca. I'm not sure, can you see how the spirit animal theme runs in creating sacred spaces?

Working so hard

I have been working so hard to provide variety and interest in my weekly market offerings. I think it's really pushing me to create more, and that of course means that I sell more. It's a see saw with gratitude.

Owl and Raven spirit animal altar cloth.

Peacock spirit animal altar cloth

This beautiful goddess looks like a mermaid, and also bears the mark of Capricorn. Which makes sense!

The original design on fabric was so beautiful, that it wasn't easy to pull out a few details with stitching.

And a cheetah spirit animal altar cloth. Is it a cheetah? It's beautiful art printed onto fabric.
