First play with the cricut

So, here's the fun bit!

A first play with the cricut and I've created these mugs. 

Well, I bought svg files from Etsy actually (which is the cheapest easiest way to do this if you don't really know what you're doing)....

and decorated some donated mugs for the school's Buzz Cafe, run by students.

I felt a bee theme worked well.

 

Rearranging the stash brings surprises

We are celebrating the return of our lost kitty kat! Since we moved, one of our cats went missing. He was being beaten up by local neighbourhood cats, because he's a boy.... but ours is so timid. He's been fixed, and doesn't usually wander.

So he mustve ducked down a drain and it's taken him 2 months to get back to us.... quite amazing, considering we'd only been living here less than a week when he went missing.

He returned with only one eye, and he was super thin. So he's gone through some major shizz to get home, through sheer will. And we are loving it all on him big time.

I've had this cat panel for a few years. My kiddo loves colour and cats.

I've also had this Tula Pink kitty fabric for years. Probably longer. Have you heard of the fabric range "Tabby Road"?

I think it will go very well here, and maybe some of these Tula strips and monkey wrench print.

The question is, what do I make? He's into soft textures, and uses his quilts as a cubby house.

I  think a little wallhanging again will be suitable, he really like wrapping his body in fluffy blankets. The End.

Bougie Pussies complete

Bougie Pussies is totally complete.

I had a blast quilting this.

Smaller pieces can be so satisfying. Especially when I feel like there hadn't been a "finish" on my list for quite some time. 

Moving house took all my energy for quite some time.

The tea-towel centre was from La La Land Shop. Other fabrics and bindings from my stash.

The framed paintings are hand painted cards that were for sale at the school Mother's Day Stall this year. Someone had practised and practised and practised and donated hundreds of hand painted cards to the school fundraiser. I bought an extra two for the kiddo's bedroom. Success! Continued the themeof framed kitties outside the quilt onto the wall.

And I just love the name the artist gave to the tea-towel artwork!

 

Feeling tropical

It's so exciting to see these fabrics work with each other!

I love the movement, repetition and the colours!

So excited to move on with this. I can see her hanging on my wall near the sewing machine.

That green with spots has me really going though!

 

Another freshie wants to be created

Another fresh find in my fabric rummaging is this black background fabric with vintage hula pinups on.

I've wondered what to do with if for so long! I did a fabric pull, and decided to use some of my special 5inch squares

Then applique the ladies onto an otherwise ordinary looking quilt.

Auditioning fabric sashing and borders, and the lady on top.

How about cornerstones?

I am so enjoying the selection and rearranging, and collaging of quilt borders on this tea towel.

I unpicked the seam around the outside of the tea towel to give me a seam allowance.

Oh these are far too beautiful to keep hidden in bags. It's time to make something!

Do you ever save precious fabrics, and don't use them for years and years? I've been doing that, and it's time to get stuck into stitching some of them!

I have this Bougie Pussies teatowel from La La Land Shop to turn into a surprise wallhanging for my kiddo's bedroom wall. 

He loves cats, and at the same price as a panel from the patchwork shop, won't this be a different and unusual textiles piece for his bedroom?

I feel it will also be very maverick, as in, the strips and lengths will vary.
