Mummy's heart

It's the end of the month, and Mum has quilted 3 more quilts for me.

Neverland, quilted in tinkerbelles.

Be your own kind of beautiful, a boho tribute.

Up, up and away .... a fun quilt for young boys. Quilted by Mum with allover clouds.

 Biggest morning tea time.

Mmmm yummy, look at all of these.

What have you got? Mummy's heart, that's what. x

Monkey Too- Tada!

Ta-da!! Another quilt finished for the year.

There have been so many little items made this year, it's awesome to have some quilt finishes too. And a few more this year to come. I have two quilts to finish for the Townsville Show in July.

I love stripey fabric for bindings!

And this one even has a stripey backing.

These were the last pieces of a jelly roll that went together to make a total of 3 little quilts. I would say that has been pretty good value!

Quilted by Mum with jumping sock monkeys... it's a gorgeous quilt!

Lily of The Valley Quilt

I bought this charm pack, and the colours are so vivid, fresh, modern and exciting.

I thought it would make a great lap quilt with wide appeal.

This one is quilted by Mum with a gorgeous large French kind of flowy design.

Perfect for the cold weather descending upon us already.

I have another couple that just need binding.

I've been waiting for good weather for having a quilt sitting on my lap.

The cold snap is here in Far North Queensland, it's slipper weather!

Getting closer

Are you ready for the plastic bag ban?

I'm not sure that it means I have to buy 40 green bags and fill the boot with them, then forget to take them into the supermarket....

But I will buy 2 clothes baskets to keep in the car. After the shopping goes through the checkout, it will go back into the trolley then unload from trolley to the baskets in the car. Then just carry baskets inside. Much longer lasting than the bags Coles will be selling.

And then there are the cute totes I have been maknig, mostly for clothes shopping and post office runs, that sort of thing.

Banning bags

The plastic bag ban is getting closer. Today I enjoyed making some netting bags for fresh produce.

I used a pretty satin drawstring through the top.

And then I had a brainwave that these bags could also be used to organise things so that you can see their contents. It's quite annoying when I find bits of these jigsaws everywhere, except where they shold be! Ha! Especially a knobbly jigsaw piece underfoot.

And here is another shopping tote, because I am crazy about these.

My greatest creation

And  here is my best creation yet, and still evolving...

he is a creative being too.

Runs in the family.

I've taken him to the library for something called "Messy Play", so he is wearing dark colours and washable shoes.

Ooh, I will just cook these.

And I  love to wear red lipstick and flowers in my hair too.
This shopping tote is going straight into my handbag!

What about the sewing?

When you have a family, sometimes you give so much that there is no time for the sewing.

Little Miss turns 7, and this is the Mermaid Venus de Milo.

I was at the $2 shop looking for a statue that ended up costing $6 (hahahaha), and looking at an entire wall of tiny statues... I said to lil man who is now 2 1/2, we need to find a mermaid, where is the mermaid, where are you mermaid? And out of the entire wall he picks up the only mermaid figurine.

I don't think he even knew what a mermaid was! But somehow, he has the intuition!

I used the wilton piping tips, butter icing, and sprinkled with hologrammatic edible glitter....

 Honestly, this turned out beautifully......

Here is the evidence that I created it myself...

And.... how did I know to make this a mermaid cake and not a unicorn? Because my little girl asked me for a mermaid quilt next time... ohhh yes! *fistpump*

9 years later

I started these blocks 9 years ago in 2009, and took the stitchery borders to India with me in 2010 as my travel project.

Finally, the borders have been added to the 12 Days Of Christmas Quilt.

The quilt top has been assembled for about 5 years. The border fabric has been in a shopping bag for about a year. And finally, they are stitched on. Hurrah!

I want to send this away to Mum at Deep Creek Quilting for longarm quilting in time to enter the quilt into the Townsville Show. It will need to go by express post I need it back by the end of the month to hand in, and that includes time needed for hand stitching the binding.

What a great incentive to get this quilt finally finished!

Rainbow butterfly and rainbow mandala

Woohoo! I started this Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt in February 2012, and finally it's finished!

Thank you Mum for quilting it on the longarm with rainbow multicolour caterpillars.

I gave this quilt away, because Mum had already given my 2 1/2 year old a quilt with this guy on, (caterpittar quilt Mummy).

This quilt has gone to Archie who turned 3 on the day it arrived in the mail.
It's cold in Melbourne, so he will enjoy it.

And sometimes you start and finish something in one day.....
This gorgeous tote is perfect for rolling up and storing in the handbag. Especially now that Spotlight has stopped giving out plastic bags, and the supermarkets are lining up to do that too.

There are going to be lots of totes on here.

Triple Triple

I have totally enjoyed making this triple set comprising oracle cards, bag for the deck and an altar cloth.

The swirling universe fabric is actually a deep purple.

Triple Goddess is appliqued in fairy frost, and embellished with freehand machine embroidery.

And the bag... ohhh, triple goddess charm with a satin double drawstring.

I think I have enough of this fabric to make myself a set too. Fingers crossed.

Welcome

Welcome to the Coven! This brazen white witch, snow queen has brought her cauldron, besom and spellbook... and check out her boots!

Gorgeous inspiration. Dolls made by my friend Pauline Crichton of Pauline's Shabby Chic and Country.

So very lucky to have won 4 of them now. Yep. Addicted.

More bags! What a surprise!

Hee hee, i love this meditating kind of zen cat in the stars...

Another fun shoping tote.

This is one of my current fav fabrics. A metallic peacock fabric that looks kind of like feathers, kidn of like scales.

I made 2 the same for little gifts.

Pinky

Pinky the mermaid joins the collection of shopping totes.

I just love the intense colours of the prints, and the details.
Ooh, I love choosing fabrics!

We love mermaids

Another ipad bag, this one is in metallic silvery mermaid scale fabric.

I love to make these, it's a lot of fun to quilt away.... it gets me into the mood to work on something more detailed, and it's lovely have a fast finish every now and then.

p.s. Miss Seven has asked for her next quilt to be a mermaid quilt! Yippee!

Hestia

Hestia, the goddess that holds the Sacred Flame holds the flame of the hearth.

When the hearth was the heart of the home - fire for cooking, heating water, washing, extracting animal fat, warmth and more....

The fire should never go out.

Hestia is the keeper of the flame. I love her. She is a stunning piece of work.

Inspired by the artwork on the card, I have put her up for sale. I love creating images like these.
