Saturn Eye Pillow

This is a spectacular piece, I've just made another two. I think that's the last I have in this fabric. Maybe I can order it again in the future, we don't really know with overseas shipping still.

It takes a lot of energy to hold space or this sacred geometry while I stitch. This one has 7 colour changes, freemotion stitching and some with the walking foot.

In his own crafting, 5yo has made me a "Saturn" eye pillow. Hahahahhhaha.

It's bits of paper stapled together with fluffy stuffing inside.

Thanks little man, I love it.

Teddy bears: a study

It's sewing group day, and I've stitched down the bears with MonoPoly invisible thread in a fine zig zag stitch.

I wanted to show you a little before and after of the bear faces.

The depth and difference is so striking.

These two have been stitched into the top now.

The back is pieced, the label is on... I just need to decide if I quilt it myself or give it to Mum.... Maybe I will get it to Mum, it's a gift, and professional quilting always looks better.

It's great to be stitching again!!

Refill before stitching

Inspiration, and time to rest and rezone after a frantic month.

Inhale. Exhale. Splash. Splash.

I am almost ready to sew again.

A beachy cake

Do you find if you've done creative baking, you feel like you've been on a quilt shop hop in the car or bus and you're exhausted?

All the excitement, all the planning, all the shopping... and you've used up your creative energy before you start? That's what happens to me.

And I think it's happened this month with the creative baking.

Making two special cakes has me so that I can't think about a stitch.

Plus, baking and creating for the Biggest Morning Tea at the mother in laws house - she has one every year, so I also baked for that.

No more family baking for a while. Phew!

Tomorrow I might feel like sewing.

Thank you KitchenAid. You are loved. (hee hee)

The quilts that tell a story in the background

Have I mentioned how much I love having quilts hanging on the walls?
Carrot cake birthday cake for the Daddy.

That's my Dharavi quilt hanging on the wall

Every Dad needs a 5yo to help blow out the candles!

Another family birthday tomorrow. I need to keep baking and decorating. Watch this space!

Haven't a stitch on

It's a super busy time for me here, with 2 family birthdays this month, so I haven't really got much to show you in the sewing department, although I am not neglecting my blog!

My 5yo son drew this picture of me. Ahhh, my heart swells so large I'm sure it will burst!

I have set up this Ancient Egypt tribute on a shelf, it's so important to me! Thank you. Thank you to all my guides, ancestors and angels.

Two family birthdays this month means all my creative energy is going into cakes. Carrot cake for the first one I think... stay tuned.

Leather purses

I've had this leather for ages, and wondered what to do with it.

Only little pieces, what can I make? I started with invisible dress zippers, but they weren't quite stiff enough. (Those are athe ones in white hide with the zip at the top).

The black ones like this are painted.

I mixed Jo Sonja's paint with fabric medium.

A couple of little magickal designs... I used regular zippers on these ones which are a bit stiffer and held the shape better.

They all needed a little charm or painting or feather.

I will probably give one of the black leather ones to my son.

What a satisfying feeling to make something with some little leather pieces I've had for a very long time!

Are you feeling satisfied with your creations?
