Something for me

I kind of missed baking bikkies in time for ANZAC day. It was so weird, the usual ceremonies weren't going on, people were staying home, not mingling, and I ran out of golden syrup, because it just wasn't on my mind!

Did you know one of the reasons why ANZAC bikkies were so popular is because they didn't need eggs or sugar or milk, and they lasted well on the journey with the Red Cross deliveries to Gallipolli in WW1.

It's a special Australian past time to make them, so even though it's late, it was important to do them. These traditions won't be passed on if we stop.

I snaffled some of this gorrgeous sparkly plastic at a local quilt shop - Just Country Crafts, although it is not just country anymore!!!!

One side of the plastic By Annie's is kind of pink, one side is kind of gold. I dug out a panel I have of teacher ladies from Lorelei (I think I got that from Sunlit Blooms a year or so ago), and although i drooled over the beautiful rainbow zippers in the store, I am giving it a go with some dress zips I bought in bulk from ebay.

Ok, so the dress zips were a bit too flimsy, so I rummaged in my supplies and found these pretty lace zippers. Too cute to hide, I made a few of these for me, and I will give some to Mum for Mother's Day.

I set out to create something for me, and I did it! It's a great feeling to be completing projects as I start them.

How many do you have on the go at once?

Rainbow Wolf

Oh my goddess! This wolf turned out to give me goosebumps! I have fabric for one more, and I think it will also sell on the same day that I release this altar cloth.

Do you have any requests for altar cloths/textile art?

You can find me at The Spiritual Co-Op Group (Facebook) online market.

Underwater intention grid

I feel a watery connection with this piece, so I've placed a removable seahorse charm in the centre.

This one is an intention grid.

How does it work? You choose an outcome, then place crystals in a pattern on the mandala shape, creating your own pattern, using the grid that is printed and stitched into the fabric, all while keeping the chosen outcome loosely in the mind.

This is a beautiful piece for a mermaid, or water spirits.

When I have to make more

I sold the wolf and then sold another that I had fabric for. What a shame I can't get any more of the wolf print!

I love creating the circles all over the moon to create texture.

This is a mythical creature - a jackelope.

I call this one Rainbow Moon, and I have fabric for about 5 of these. I have a feeling this one will be popular.

Keeping up my finished pieces for the market is bringing me so much joy, I have a lot of gratitude.

Universal Mother

I loved this design so much that I made 4 of these altar cloths. All in the same colours, but of course so unique because of the freehand stitching.

Each one also has a unique selection of charms stitched into her hair.

Universal Mother: a play on words - mother to us all, and also a cosmic mother of the universe

Wolf and Snake

Animals have meanings when they appear in our lives. They can symbolise specific traits, or we can identify with aspects of the animal.

Sometime in 2011, I was newly separated and on the way to being divorced. At almost midnight a bat appeared in my bedroom. It flew around the room, and I ran around frightened. Eventually i got it out of the bedroom, and closed the door to sleep. I talked about it on facebook, and then my friend Tania sent me links to information about the meaning of bat as a totem or spirit animal. Boom! It all made sense, and my life was changed.

The bat disappeared from the house, and I never saw it again. It never soiled in the house, and it left no evidence it had been there.

These textile art pieces honour the spirit animal that others may connect with. I have freemotion quilted words onto the wolf: LOYALTY, APPETITE FOR FREEDOM, INSTINCT, INTUITION

And this one reminds me of Medusa, whose curse was to turn men into stone when she looked into his eyes... her hairful of snakes appealed to me, and gave me a lot of joy to stitch.

Selling Fast

I'm so grateful that my textile art is selling fast. It seems at this time people are turning within more and more. They are at home more often, and looking to card readers and wanting sacred spaces in the home.

This is what my artworks do: create sacred space in the home!

They all appeal to different people. Photos just don't show the detailed stitching. Videos are better, but in person is best.

I stitch intuitively while creating these. I don't think too much, my hands go where they need to go.
