Love Always block 2

The first of the four main blocks for Love Always is totally complete.

I am using the same red grunge for all the stems, because even though I like the scrappy look, it still needs some cohesion. And the grunge is an ongoing fabric. There will be lots of stems in the applique borders.

There are a total of 4 vase blocks. I will need to do at least one more with a pink/muted red vase.

Wonder and excitement

Today I am the absolute definition of proud Mumma, as my almost 4yo uses scissors on his own for the first time (only used them once before with assistance).

I drew these shapes for him to practise cutting out, and knock me over with a feather, look at his precision.

I am filled with wonder and excitement, and aglow with thoughts of innumerable possibilities for his future with such fine motor skills.

Musician? Sculptor? Artist? Painter? Miniature motor tinkerer?

Let's just say that I am delighted he has inherited some skills from his Mumma.

Love Always update

It's always exciting to sink one's teeth into a new project, and this one is no exception.

I am so enjoying the calm of the muted reds.

Not much more to do on this one before I snooze it.This is the centre, and I imagine quite a few people unpicked their centre medallion once the 4 surrounding blocks were made, because it would make or break the quilt composition.

Kids crafting

It seems that I am not the only creative one in the household....

With his very fine motor skills, 3 year old Sambo loves to create and mould shapes and dough.

They get squashed up pretty quickly, so how lovely to keep a record of his creations here too.

And here I have been working on the Love Always quilt, so happy to have started using these gorgeous red and pink and beige fabrics.

Just finding it so relaxing to make something for my own bed.

With all this furious machine stitching, I am enjoying the slow steady creation of this special block. 

Gingerbread time

3 year old strikes again this time, it's adding stickers to Mummy's hair. ouch!

It's the right time of year to bake gingerbread here. Usually it's too hot to keep the dough in its shape, so here we are.

Making our gingerbread that is not necesarily Christmas shaped.

The lollies seem to have melted which looks a bit strange. Maybe i go back to currants.

They tasted delicious! I do love the cooler weather for this kind of thing.

Fairy landscape altar cloth

Starting with a close up... look at these trees growing from the forehead (I think I've had a headache like that once... hahahahha)...




Making a wish, being a part of the landscape, flying fairies....

And she really complements this oracle deck.

A gorgeous altar cloth or divination cloth... she has gone to her forever home with love.
