intuitive painting

As I am preparing to make art dolls, I treated myself to some paints and pencils for the doll faces. 

Then I was inspired by the card deck, to put a large eye on the Universe fabric. The deck contains affirmations, prayers and quotes that uplift and inspire, and are basead on the book The Universe Has Your Back. 

After deciding to make an eye, the paints came out for a play... and boy is it fun to paint and craft intuitively. I had no idea what he end would turn out like or where to place the colour and highlights.

I meant what I said yesterday... this is about the fourth cushion I have made in this style, maybe even fifth!

 There are a few more unicorn cushions (unicushions) to come, but I bought some fabric for a new theme yesterday as this one is starting to get to me.

 It's just that I have so many collaborations to finish!

I've named this cushion "On the wings of love". Pegasus is King of the Unicorns, and flies through rainbow skies.

I love this particular unicorn style so much that I will have another one to show tomorrow!

This cushion is for a collaboration trio, with a candle and bath set, and a little crocheted unicorn.

Rainbow Daze

So many pieces are being finished at the moment. 

They've been on the go for a little while, and I am in a crazy finishing mode. I have no idea how many items I have finished this year, as I am still catching up on blogging posts, and need to add a list of finished items for 2018 to the sidebar.

 I reckon by March I will have time to count how many pieces have been finished this year so far!

This rainbow unicorn cushion features machine applique again (I am looooving it!), and free motion machine embroidery. This one is also for a collaboration in March, and I hope to show photos of the other two items together with my contribution after the others have been made. Come on girls, pull your finger out!

Fairy Nightgarden cushion

Every now and then you finish something you really love... and this is no exception. 

It's a cushion, but I have stitched in LED lights.

 It's obviously going to be decorative as it cannot be washed, just spotcleaned and vacuum cleaned.

Whack in 3 AA batteries, and the ambience can go all night in a bedroom, on the couch or in a sacred space.

I am in love, and will be making more cushions with the LED features.

Good golly

At this stage there is only 1 more golly to cut out and applique. These are all made, and now to stitch them down. 

The musical background was too harsh, so I used the reverse of the fabric. This softens it somewhat, although now the treble clefs etc are in reverse.

Still, it's for a newborn baby. My niece or nephew is expected in March.

I really must stitch down, paint face details and organise quilting. (Yes please Mum!!)

Sneaky Peek

With my sister's second bub due in March, I thought I had better get a big start on her baby's quilt.

11 of 14 gollies are assembled.

The centre charms are all cut out and joined. The music background is ready to be used (in reverse, so that the pattern is more subtle, although this will put the treble clefs backwards, but ah well...)

And I would love to have the little quilt top assembled tomorrow, ready to stitch the gollies down.

This quilt design by Lil Blokes measures about 60cm x 70cm. This is about the size baby quilt I made for my sister's first baby, and she said it was the perfect size. It certainly turned up in a LOT of baby photos. That's it then. Sorted. I would say the little quilt top is about half finished. YES!
