Let it Sew!

Guess who has more room to move and can now get out the sewing machine? Me! That's who!
This is the first part of Australian Christmas bunting. I will need to add pom poms along the front, but those are in storage. They can always be added later.

These Aussie Christmas stocking panels are spray basted. I'll be sewing those in the next couple of weeks.... first I need to finish some exams and then I'll be SEW Happy!

Loads and loads of sewing plans.... Watch this space! I think it's about to get busy again! Yay!

Superheroes

Things change in life, and sometimes they are big changes. One of the biggest changes in my life would be the appearance of two car seats in my car. How wonderful!

Two little superheroes in my life were running around with extra large teatowels as Batman superhero capes.... awwww... so cute!
and so what to do but make them some capes? Shelley is Purple Star. Rhette is Red Flash. But you know kids, they are still Batman capes to them. Bless 'em!

It's taken 4 weeks for me to get a photo of the capes while they are clean and not being worn. ;)

Sojourn

I crocheted this blanket as a special present for my girlfriend that lives in Devon, U.K. She likes pink, and I knew if I made every hexagon the same I would be bored, so I made every single hexie different. I took the 7kg woollen item overseas, carrying it around England (losing it and half my luggage on the way to London), then took it to Paris where I met my sweet girl and gave it to her.

I finished sewing it together and tying all the ends up while we were in Paris, gazing out the window at the Eiffel Tower.... oh how lush! But, how often does a girl (me) turn 40??
I thought I'd share some pics from the trip, as I can see a few of them would make great scenery/landscape quilts if I ever felt like it one day.

Or maybe I could print them onto inkjet fabric and make a photo album quilt to look like scrapbooking pages... that could also be fun....
This one is outside Kensington Palace.
The doorman at Harrod's... (what shopping?? they were having a big sale... and half my bags were lost, I needed makeup, toiletries and underwear!)
 Stonehenge needs no introduction.
I am still a Harry Potter fan.
Parisienne restaurant - in a patchwork jacket!
 Oh! the cottages in England!
And the cute little pubs with flowers out the front!

Holly Christmas Birds

This is the Christmas tablecloth I've been sewing since I started living in the caravan (yep, everything is by hand these days)..... It's a pre-printed linen (even with the hems done! PLUS the gold edging is pre-machine-embroidered).
All I've had to do is embroider the birds and holly. Awww... how beautiful....
There's not much to go, but I am running out of embroidery thread in the greens. I must go into the local shop to match the colour with some DMC.

Vision board dream quilt

I am just love, love, loving applique. I prepared these blocks to sew over 6 months ago, and I am working my way through them.

Living in a caravan, my internet access is limited to the portable hotspot on my phone, and it just EATS the internet credit.

Alas, I haven't been in blog world very much as a result.

This is my dream and vision board quilt... I see myself with a loving man, in a home we have made beautiful together, surrounded by garden flowers and shrubbery.....

I set my intentions for all good things to come as I make this quilt and dream.....

This is another block from Homage To American Quilt Makers by Lori Smith.

Mostly Kaffe fabrics....

One of those last minute things.

You know how it feels when you've been making steady progress on a gift for months.... then time is nearly up, and you know you have to somehow finish the gift in time.

Oh yes. All the blocks are made, but can I get the ends all sewn in and tucked away? Oh my.

I am very happy to report that indeed The Lion Sleeps Tonight. The little woollen blanket of many colours is complete, and I just loooove the colours. There is a lot of depth in this little project.

Fairy Godmothering

Finished just in time for Fairy Godmothering - this is the Flower Fairy quilt made for my sweet niece Savannah. She was born on 12.12.12 - exactly as predicted. I was in the city on the day of her birth and was there hours after she came into this world.
I used this twinkly green flower fairy fabric that I had kept for my own little girl - and I can't be wrong. She is definitely mine.

Here, Savannah models the Christening dress I wore 37 years ago, while investigating the quilt made especially for her.

Green is the colour of the heart chakra. There is much love for you here Savvy. xoxo. I love you.
