Another freshie wants to be created

Another fresh find in my fabric rummaging is this black background fabric with vintage hula pinups on.

I've wondered what to do with if for so long! I did a fabric pull, and decided to use some of my special 5inch squares

Then applique the ladies onto an otherwise ordinary looking quilt.

Auditioning fabric sashing and borders, and the lady on top.

How about cornerstones?

Bougie Pussies quilt top ready to quilt

I am so enjoying the selection and rearranging, and collaging of quilt borders on this tea towel.

I unpicked the seam around the outside of the tea towel to give me a seam allowance.

Ta-da! I love it! Bits of Anna Maria Horner and more!

Bougie Pussies

Kaffe Fasset, Phillip Jacobs, Brandon Mably collective fabric pull!

Oh these are far too beautiful to keep hidden in bags. It's time to make something!

Do you ever save precious fabrics, and don't use them for years and years? I've been doing that, and it's time to get stuck into stitching some of them!

I have this Bougie Pussies teatowel from La La Land Shop to turn into a surprise wallhanging for my kiddo's bedroom wall.

He loves cats, and at the same price as a panel from the patchwork shop, won't this be a different and unusual textiles piece for his bedroom?

I feel it will also be very maverick, as in, the strips and lengths will vary.

Watch this space! I am in the mood to create!

Little Wolf hexies

I've been wondering what to make with this little off shaped piece of wolf fabric for a few years. My mother-in-law loves wolves, so I feel like I could make her a little something, something.

I have some interesting textural pieces put aside with it.

Isn't it funny what you find when you move house, and your stash gets turned upside down?

I'd like to finish this and use up the bits, so I don't have to move it ever again. Plus my MIL is not getting any younger....

What can I turn this into?

Monkey Wrench border is on

Mum, the Monkey Wrench quilt top is complete! I will be mailing it to you along with the log cabin quilt!

The black looks so striking from here.

I always get another perspective through a photo.

Do you think green or black binding?

The cabin is built

I've absolutely done it!

The logs are all joined.

Do you think it needs a border? Mum, be on the lookout please, this quilt is a-coming for quilting very soon!

scrappy logs

Sometimes, you know you've made the right decision.

Especially when the blocks come out so fast, and in such a fun way!

I feel like after months without sewing, this just had to happen.

I don't want to put the pineapple blocks aside, so I think this will be a good way to use them up.

Time for me to start piecing.

I need to stitch

The first room in the house (apart from kitchen) is ready. It's the kiddo's bedroom, complete with his squirrel quilt.

Finally a cool air conditioned space with his own comfy bed.

And now the lights in the living room can stay on past 7pm, because he's not sleeping in it!

Pantry almost done.

Here I am, getting a coffee, and I finally have a cool space that's all clear to sink in a few stitches. I miss my stitching so much.

This is a blue version of a Cinderberry Stitches pattern (Natalie Lymer) "Twelve Red Robins". I've already made it in pink and gifted it. I think I will make one in red as well for another gift.

I get a lot of joy from a piece of stitchery that can literally travel anywhere with me.

Scrappy Pineapples

And this is how quickly maverick blocks can come together.

Here's what I think.... The corner triangles are a bit wasteful, there's small triangles that get cut off every time, and they seem to small to do anything with.

So, I'm thinking I might switch to maverick log cabins, and use up some other small fabrics in my stash, cut into strips varying in width and then keep on sewing.

Pineapple strip blocks

Since the carpet was replaced, I've got my living room back.

While looking for places to put away fabric, and wondering how to organise my house, I found a whole lot of fabric remnants. So pretty and bright and fresh.

I don't really want to put them away again for a few years, so I feel like having a go at some maverick/artsy pineapple quilt blocks inspired by Susan Stuklis.

I think after another 4 blocks, I could almost have my head around these!

These are leftover bindings and strips that were in a shopping bag.
