Spirit Animals

Wrapping up the month, not sure when we move... this Leo constellation just twinkles. The lion is so powerful, I need this around me at this time I guess, because the altar cloth below also has a jungle animal!!

This artwork is so beautiful. I love stitching it, then highlighting all the gold especially with fabric paint.

This one sold to become textile art for the wall as well. I do find that interesting.

I am packing up all my personal sewing ready to move. We have started to dismantle the house frames, sort out what we want to keep, what to leave, what to throw away. Moving is such a big job, especially when you thought you would never leave.

Quan Yin

I love Quan Yin  - the goddess of compassion so much, that I've stitched onto another one of her images. They vary with what she is holding, and how many arms she has.

Quan Yin is the goddess of love and compassion, and that includes to oneself.

I haven't sewn a stitch on any of my own projects all year.

I started with charity quilts, then I stopped suddenly when we were asked to make scrubs for hospital workers. So I switched back to sewing to supplement my income, and it's exploded!!!

I need to move soon. I will stitch as much as I can, while I can. Moving is a big time!

Running Like Water

I've finished another four new designs that have my heart aglow. Luckily I am buying my batting and threads in bulk now.

I am using a beautiful wool/cotton blend of batting by Matilda's Own and Signature threads. My Janome machine loves the Signature, I buy it in 3000yd reels. I now have about 15 colours, and will have space for more as soon as we have a house to live in.

The contrast between water and land, fire and air, night and day, sun and moon. Everything about this one is amazing. I have another 2 of these fabrics. I hope to order more of this one. It's incredible.

This flamingo goddess in a waterfall is all about beauty. I love her. She was bought my someone that loves flamingoes, it's a textile wall art piece - not an altar cloth for her.

I call this beach one "My Happy Place". If you can't get to the beach in 2020 with all that's going on, at least you can go there in your mind.

Oh my goodness, this cup runneth over, what a stunning artwork this was in the first place, and gave me a lot of pleasure to stitch and paint.

I wish I could get more of this cup one. We could all do with a cup of overflowing rainbows.

Mermaids

I'm no longer spending 20 - 30 hours a week applying for and looking at rental properties. I KNOW that I will find a house to rent by word of mouth. So I am making sure everyone I know is aware that I am looking for somewhere. I might need a reference though, I will speak to the (now retired) couple that managed the caravan park I lived in 2013-2014.

This will give me more time to stitch pieces for the online market. This week's theme is the ocean, or water. So I've pulled out a few mermaid ones. This green one has me like. oh wow! The gold details are AMAZING!

And this one with a sea goddess and a mermaid.. ahhh, so many layers of depth and meaning in this one, it's exciting to find them all.

The Dark Side

A little on the dark side today, these two pieces are about strength.

This one is titled "A Cat Called Lucifer", which really makes me giggle. Cats really can be devils can't they?

And this one... well, this is the slender version of the Sew Witch Ursula... Do you remember Ariel, The Little Mermaid was combing her hair with a fork?

This is definitely a sea witch who won.

There is something about this piece, that makes me want to laugh deep like Ursula. Sometimes the baddies do win, not because they should, but because the "good" person won't do what is necessary to win.

Goddess

Still looking for somewhere to live, we have to move as soon as we can. I am connecting with the goddess while I stitch.

This renaissance art is stunning in real life with sparkly gold fabric paint and stitched details. Perfect for calling on Mother Mary.

Likewise, calling on Lakshmi, goddess of beauty and prosperity. This seems to be the right time to stitch goddess pieces.

I am asking everyone I know, cap in hand.

I don't want me and my family to be homeless.

Moths and cats

This one really shook my world. What is it about moths? They have big fluffy antennae that are sensitive to change and vibration and smell, and this faery is riding a moth, and together they are heading for the moon. So many symbols in one place!! I have a couple of these printed onto fabric. I might have to order more. This one really speaks.

Oh Frida! I remember being young and wondering who this woman was, that one could find on tshirts and whatnot, and now I don't wonder who she is, I wonder why I didn't know before! Ha! Especially since I went to Mexico and viewed her works, learned about her relationship with her husband, and understood why she painted so many self portraits. (She had to paint, like I have to quilt). She was unwell in bed a lot, so she painted herself.  And this time her cat also.

And as for cats, this one is like the yin and yang of cats. Warming up on a cold day with pumpkin spice.

I can't stop, gotta sew some more altar cloths to fund the purchase of a new property.

Setting Goals

This altar cloth reminds me of the goddess Diana or Artemis. Setting goals and reaching them is the aim. With goddess on your side, how can you stray from your vision?

Oh the details in these 3 loves. I put the price up on this one because there is just so much detail stitched in. I call it Love From Above. I imagine angels and guides looking down and guiding us.

Altar cloths to create instant sacred space.

Compassion, new beginnings, Wishes

So, we got the block of land... and I am stitching as fast as I can to pay for it! Also looking for a rental at the moment and visiting places to live.

I've been going to look, but given my history, it's not going to matter where I live. I just need somewhere for my family. So I am telling EVERYONE I know, and putting it out there that I am looking. Swallowing any pride (not sure why I had to do that), but putting myself out there to find a home for the family. Hopefully with room for the pets and a bedroom for each of the children.

Back to sewing, this one with the hare and dandelion talks to me of wishes. The hare has various meanings in the Goddess Wheel of The Year - some seasons are entirely represented by hare, so it's not just Easter to me.

It's kind of like new beginnings, and making wishes.

Quan Yin, goddess of compassion. Oh how she means a lot to me. I have a card deck connecting to Quan Yin, and I did a special workshop for 44 days with some other beautiful souls. We all did the practises on the same drawn card each day, with a lit candle, wearing Goddess oil and holding space for each other. It was very deep and transformative.

This one sparkles and shimmers. I know she will reach her happy home and destination.

This Universal Mother one - the Creator, oh how I love this one.. She really shimmers and sparkles with depth and meaning. I am sure these ones will be snapped up at the online market.

So much thank you.

Here's one I forgot to share yesterday, but you know what, it's all divine timing.

Do you remember I needed to find a house to move into? Or a house/land to buy with vendor finance?

Well we put it out to the Universe, and this block of land has turned up.

We went for our first look.

Discovered a water hole.

We buried some crystals near the water hole, and the land responded with such love.

Walking around (yes, I can walk, I've been taking those vitamins and it is changing my life), we felt a deep connection to the land.

As though nobody had given to the land before, only taken.

Well, it felt totally right to us, and we have the vendor finance option.

29 acres near the sea, this is us!

We need to start moving our belongings straight away. Shed, tools, project cars and that sort of thing that need to be removed from the old place.

Thank you to the Fae in this land, thank you Universe. Thank you to our friends.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Faeries, Fairies, The Fae

This week the theme at the market is all about the Fae, and mythical creatures. So I've created these altar cloths.

I'm not sure if this is Wonderland - because there is a castle in the background.

I have no idea what this owl's name is. He feels like he has a particular name. I will tell you that with 3 eyes, he represents inner knowledge, all seeing. The horns are wisdom. The berries are fruit -  (something is bearing fruit/gifts). The succulents are hardy plants, the crystals are connection, vibration, healing properties. Overall it has speaks to us on many levels. I will definitely order more owls if I can.

This SnowWhite textile art piece took me a long time. So many tiny details and about 10 thread changes. I had it beside me and when I changed colour for the piece I was working on, I stuck it under just to do that little bit in that colour.

Changing colours takes a bit of time!

This looks like a fairy swing to me, with mushroom seats nearby. It's so purple, sparkly, and more pretty that you can see in this photo.

That's a wrap on the fae themed pieces for this week.

Raising my vibration

Raising my vibration as high as I can, I am stitching very high vibe pieces. I've been applying for 40 rental houses a week, but with nobody moving out, and people moving to Queensland when they can, there aren't any available, or my rental history was too long ago (23 years!!)

This rainbow goddess is seriously stunning, I could stitch her all day long.

Oh this cat one speaks to me on so many levels!

First, I love Egypt, so this walk like an egyptian thing is doing it for me. And who here knows about the connection between stars, constellations and the pyramids? Maybe you know something about the Annunaki?

Keeping my mind positive, enjoying this stitching very much.

Only have a couple each of these fabrics, and I can see now, that I could never have enough.

What happened to our house?

You might be wondering what happened to our house? It was all ready to stand up, the crane was ordered. The frame was in place.

Then we got a letter that changed everything.

The beloved had been bankrupt (he let his business close suddenly when his ex wife suddenly left and he had a 1yo and 2yo to care for on his own). The bankruptcy time had passed and it should have been all clear. Except the trustees had come past and taken photos of the steel and footings.

Even though I was the proprietor of the house, it was on his land, and the bankruptcy trustees said they had no intention of letting go their hold on the "asset" of the land, and then the house on it.

It turns out they can come back indefinitely. So if we built a house on the property and it increased the equity, we would have to pay them out basically, forever. Meaning that we paid for the house over and over and over again.

This was a devastating blow in the middle of a global pandemic. We need to move ASAP. With no rental experience for over 23 years, and that in a different state, I asked my friends to help me find a house and/or block of land to build on. Over 40 of us are dreaming on it.

I have asked EVERYONE I know if they know of a house for rent. There seem to be very few available for rent at this time.

I am so preoccupied, I've only made one altar cloth: This one looks like Libra the scales, but I feel justice and balance in this one as well.

Sunday, 5 July 2020

I just had a feeling about these fabrics when I ordered them, so I bought 3 of each, and I am so pleased with the way they've evolved.

Multi coloured thread in stars and squiggles, with softness, but determined power and connection.

And this one with the feathers on her head, the Boho Beauty. Once again, secure and determined in herself. These altar cloths/textile art pieces remind me of the young women I met at Seven Sisters Festival in Melbourne, Australia.

Meeting those young women opened my eyes to the way that young women could be: full of their own power, confidence and open to working with so much more than their own human-ness.  It inspired me to be a different woman, and a different kind of parent.

Altar cloths/textile art like these would remind me to hold my own power, and remind me of the powerful transformations that took place during the festival.

This little unicorn brings airs of youthful optimism, a whimsical mind, dreams and visions. What does it mean to you?

For this piece I've freehand quilted stars in a multicoloured thread as the background, which to me just adds so much pop while being pretty.

I made another of these bat and raven altar cloths, but this time without the words (traits of the combined animals). Every time I stitch a piece of fabric it's different, and I feel intuitively that it changes depending on how it's going to it's ultimate owner.

I love this image of Red Riding Hood.

I call her Red. Far from being the little girl who had to hide in her cloak, or was frightened, this is the empowered version. I feel it in her swag, her boots, and the way she walks in the snowy woods standing tall. Picking out the shadows of trees was one of my favourite parts of stitching to add depth to this piece of printed art.
