Grinch suit

Have you ever seen those crazy mens suits made from Christmas fabrics? I love them, and so does 6yo.

I bought a metre of this Grinch fabric from Spotlight for my Grinch loving little boy. There should be enough to make a shirt, and then I will look at the shorts.

Well, not quite enough for the entire shorts, but I have some other fabric I decided to mix in Harlequin style.

Shorts complete with label.

I feel a happy kid coming on.

 

Aussie Christmas

Christmas in the tropics!

Kiwis call them a jandal, Yankees call them a flip flop. Us Aussies call them thongs.

No snow at Christmas

 

Yes, it's a fake backdrop, as I am wearing a summer dress, so it's obviously not snowing here at Christmas time.

But I did get to hold a baby joey which made my Christmas photo wishes come true! Awww, So cute.

Australian Christmas stockings x2

 I made some Australian girly Christmas stockings to send to the USA with some books on Australian animals.

They turned out so pretty, the ric rac, and their names stitched onto the top. I think to myself: I will make these stockings as gifts, maybe next year, then I think... hang on! That was a lot of work, um no, actually.

I wonder if I will ever use the pattern again?

But it _is_ Christmas, and I am a Christmas decoration nut as you may know by now.

Flower fairy bag almost finished

I've had this flower fairy panel for a very long time. I was drawn to it because this first image has some fairies that were on a collectible tin I owned as a tween. 

I really loved flower fairies, so it made sense for me to make the panel into pockets for a special bag, rather than keep the fabric in my stash, in a cupboard where i can't eaven see it. I bought the panel years ago, immediately when I saw it at Sunlit Blooms, as it seems to be one of those Blink-and-you-miss-it fabrics.

A few of us in the Olive Branch Tuesday group decided to make the large standing up bag. The original pattern used strips of fabric, so I thought I would use some leftover pieces from the quilt as you go childrens quilts I made last year.

Made entirely from the stash, it's surprising how well these all went with the panel fabric. Just those last thick seams to go.

I used a special bag wadding I bought at Just Country Crafts which sits up really well, without being overly stiff. They have the best selection of specialist products for particular purposes.

I've also used fabric medium and sparkly glitter paint on the fairies to make it super sparkly.

It feels so magickal. I am glad to be making something for myself.
 

Five years, and it's finished!

 I've been working on this little stitchery for about 5 years I think. That's the label added.

It was a project I would take out from time to time... the kind of stitchery I do when I;m not desperate to work on something. 

Does that ever happen to you? You're desperate to work on something, cannot be swayed from doing it, or if you stop to create something that needs to be made for a gift by a certain time, you just KNOW you will be sidetracked big time, and it could be ages before you come back to it...

Well, you're right, I am describing myself. 

This little Santa stitchery took up so little space in a bag that it was easy to transport for a project on the go, away for the night or something like that.

No wonder I didn't get it finished! I haven't been away for a night for a very long time. Hahahaha.

That surrounding Christmas tree fabric was the inspiration, I just wanted to use it in something, and it was so expensive I bought the least possible amount. Have you ever done that?

Jumbleberry Santas

Are you every so much in the zone that you forget to take photos of your creations? I feel like I've been creating, creating, creating, and forgotten to take photos. So this is what we end up with! A video of 3 little santas I am making from the "Jumbleberry Santas" pattern by  May Blossom.

I actually went to a quilt shop and sat in on a class, it was wonderful to connect with new ladies and make some friends.  Just Country Crafts  (one of my local shops) had kits of wool felt ready to choose. I choose the purple based one, and added another couple of pieces to add definition.

Maybe I did, and maybe I didn't (that's a big YES! YES! YES! of course) buy a big pack of wool felt in many colours while they were available.

I find wool felt is blink and you miss it, especially in the subtropics where it's too hot to think of using it in a quilt.

I have a couple more projects I'd like to finish for this year's addition to Christmas decorations. 

I am a little bit sad my Pumpkin and Ravens quilt wasn't quilted in time for Halloween, but no matter, I have asked Mum for special custom quilting, and I would like it in time to exhibit at the Townsville Show next year, so I need it by about April/May 2022.
