Green and pink again!

I've had this gorgeous quilt hanging on my wall for a while now, and I'm not sure whether I've shared it in its full beauty.

A French Braid made with jelly roll.

I have so much fabric left over, I'm now seriously wondering what to make, it's so beautiful.

This fabric deserves to be made into something and enjoyed!

I used some to make a Christmas decoration. Maybe I can go down that pathway.  I have a special soul sister that is always sending gifts for our boy, and I know she loves pink.

This is an option.

Meantime, I'm enjoying this view.

Quilt top finished. Yay!

I've made 36 blocks from the

100 modern quilt blocks book. Sashing and cornerstones done.

Outer border done. Backing and label done.

Ready to go with 2 other quilts to my Mum for quilting (lucky me she became a professional long arm quilter!!).

She lives a long way away now, and I haven't posted these off yet because she's currently custom quilting my applique quilt.

Bless her heart!

Yes to cornerstones

I love it when a plan comes together.

I always wanted it to be cornerstones, very happy it worked out.

Because of course, sometimes the quilt says something else.

Monday 7 February 2022

Not for years, really.

There's almost no fabric left in my pallette for this little quilt.

I've made all the blocks I can.

Arranged on my design wall, and started to join together with bright white sashing. It's very striking and very pretty.

It's been so long since I machine pieced, I have quilted, appliqued and machine stitched, but not machine pieced so much. Not for years, really.

What's something that you haven't done for a long time that you miss?

A woman on a mission

I am a woman on a mission.

I haven't wavered, every day I've made more blocks.

Can I say that I've been binge watching/ listening to a TV show while creating? We bought an amazon fire stick so that our old TV can now stream pay to view channels.

I bought a lot of Christmas presents through Amazon prime because the postage is free when you subscribe (I get Christmas gifts shipped straight to the family households), and that gives me free viewing on the Amazon Prime channel.

Ok, so I admit I've been binge watching a light hearted mystery/detective type show called "Psych". The guy pretends to be a psychic private investigator, but he's just good at seeing clues super fast.

But look at how many blocks I've made while listening?

Another swag of blocks.

Last year I was in such a frenzy, making gifts and Christmas themed projects.

And now, I am consistently making something for me. School is back, I have time during the day, the air conditioning is blowing cool air.

It's so lovely for me to have time to work on projects for myself.

I've made so much for others and given many things away.

Ooh! 21 blocks so far.

A small tweak on something, and boom! It's a modern quilt block.

These are just so clever. I wonder how I could extend or combine a few to create a new pattern.

Something unexpected and boom! It's a new block.

Oh this. I love it. Simple. Pretty.

Ooh! Look at this cross! I love that I used the light as the feature and the dark is the background.

Does this one have a name? I think I've seen it before. Now tried it on a small scale.

Six months square.

Do you spray starch?

What a pretty block! I've spray starched the heck out of these fabrics before cutting.
Do you spray starch? Do you make minis?

Some of the pieces are small, this really helps with precise piecing on a small scale.

I will use as much of the fabric as I can. I bought the fabric pallette, small cuts of a number of fabrics in light, medium and dark,  and that will signify how big the quilt ends up.

I don't know how many blocks I will make, but the idea is to make as many as possible while using as much of the fabric pallette as I can.

I would like to hang this quilt on the wall.

Hi, it's me!

It's me! Checking in to say Hi! I'm sitting at my sewing machine stitching another altar cloth! My Etsy store is staying at a steady number of listings. Every time I add a few more, some sell.

Have you checked out my pieces?

Mmmm... last mangoes of the season with some soft fetta cheese. I am loving salad. It's still hot hot hot here!

3 more blocks

Today's blocks. Only three stitched, but more cut out and ready to go.

I am loving my fabric choices. I wanted to try something soft. I usually go with really bright Kaffe type colours and prints, unless I am buying for a particular project.

As much as I say I like lots of fabrics, the ones I see that I HAVE to BUY are usually green and pink, so they make up my stash and my go-to when I start a project.

Ohhh, look at the contrast between these sections. I love the fabrics, and the blocks. Can you imagine the secondary pattern on this one?

How do you clean your cutting mat?

Oh my goodness! These blocks are just breaking my heart, they're so beautiful!

My cutting board is a little fluffy from cutting lots of batting for my altar cloths.
Any tips on how to clean your mat?

Look at how simple this one is! But so effective!

Eep! A fourpatch with a border, and boom. It's cute!

I've made 11 blocks so far! This is a dreamy project, and those are my new shoes!

Oh yum. Dragonfruit is cheap at the market right now. I love seasonal fruit.

This is a bit like a grapefruit, but it's huge. A pomelo. I learnt these were the food of the Chinese processional dragons. During childhood we went to the Chinese museums and saw the dragons were fed pomelo leaves.
