Triple Goddess towels

And for something different, because maybe I haven't really got enough free time (ha! What is that anyway?), I have opened up an etsy shop!

This duo towel set is made from a gorgeous black herringbone towelling, appliqued with red velvet, and freehand machine embroidered to add goddess details.

Depicting the maiden, mother, crone (Triple Goddess) - in phases of life and phases of the moon.

Have a wonderful day! I will be posting more items soon x

I love it when ...

I love it when this happens! The lady who bought my Healing Wishes deck and bag set loved it so much she ordered a matching altar cloth!!

The dandelion wishing fabric is so amazing.

I hope she loves it as much as I do.....

A gorgeous backdrop for photographing card readings too. I love making these cloths.

Working The Light

Once again I have made one to keep and one to share... with their own individual rose appliques....

.... a gorgeous bird fabric as the main body

 ... and my own tags....

 ....

created to go with a particular deck called "Work Your Light"

And here they are together

I am sooo loving this deck... already one of my favourites...
 Can't help myself... more photos

Wild woman sewing

With everything submitted for the show, it's time to show you the wild woman at my sewing machine!

Yes! My hair just does that on its own.. Hahahahah.

Finally I submitted 2 large quilts - 12 days of Christmas birds, and 1950s dresses (nothing like the last minute to finish quilts that have been in progress for 10 years), David Bowie, Mrs Whatsit cushion, Hedwig cushion, Unicorn tree skirt, Mrs Who table centre, Spring wholecloth quilted tablecentre and my embroidered birds tablecloth.

Miss 7 entered in her beaded dreamcatcher necklace and a sock owl made from a kit she got from Santa. In another week we will have the results.

Family time

One thing about having a 2 year old son is that he wants to be like Mummy...

So whle I was drawing up this design, he wanted to draw too.

And stickers.

Big circles.

Kids copy what they see. Beautiful x

What are you Raven about?

Ravens have been an important symbol for me since I realised they were always flying around, and bringing me messages.

It wasn't until one very windy Victorian day there were about 40 ravens in the top of a tree at my front fence. The wind was blowing up in the tree tops. It must've been hard for them to hang on, but they clung to those branches until I noticed them.

It took sheer density of numbers for it to hit me.

Since then, ravens have had a personal meaning for me. So when I saw this fabric for sale last Halloween, I grabbed a metre of it. And hoarded it for a while.

The first bag goes with this Messages from the Guides deck as a set (sold), as Ravens have been a guide of mine, I thought it was quite fitting.

The second bag is mine. And now stores these Witches' Divination crystals that I won. It also has a bird skull charm stitched on. I love it!

My deck collection is slowly starting to get their own bags, which makes me very happy to have started to make two of each. One to keep, and one to sell.

P.S. I am pretty excited about my labels "Sew Rainey Sew".

Inspiration

I am so lucky to have won 5 dolls made by Pauline Crichton now. This mermaid joins the coven and we couldn't be happier.

I am so inspired to make some of my own sometime, and I know I can. What a lovely startup to this hobby I will have.

Eyebrows

His face is quilted, now just the background to go, and a bit more. Getting so close to the show!
I love that I have painted his eyebrows under his hair.

You remind me of the babe

I am preparing for the Townsville Show art and craft exhibit, which I found to be a bit wanting last year. Even the cake display had been reduced to the size of only two trestle tables. I resolved to get involved. I missed the cutoff date last year, as it is a month before the show.
I submitted paperwork to the show organisers to say that this David Bowie small quilt/wallhanging will be finished, and I have only just started it! I had best get on with it!

David Bowie passed away just one and a half years ago, and what an unusual stand alone person he was.  I love this as a tribute.

pillowcase

Almost too big for a dummy... here is my little man enjoying his Hungry Caterpillar quilt made by Grandma, and his "horhees" pillow case.

If it's any other pillow case, he throws his pillow away. He knows what he likes. *giggle*

Frida

Oh Frida Kahlo! Mexican Art icon!

An artist who was physically expressive of her artistic and wild hearted tendencies. Married to a Mexican artist, she and her husband were both famous for their in their own rights.

Reknowned as both having extra marital affairs.. except her husband was pretty annoyed when she did the same thing to him...and he changed some of his public art, to put her head on the figure of a prostitute. Men! Double standards!

Anyway, I particularly like her self portraits, and here is one I have turned into a shopping tote.

Wrinkle In Time cloth

Here is the progress on another tribute to the movie Wrinkle In Time.

This altar cloth/card reading cloth is almost finished. Machine applique, free motion machine embroidery, and painting details.
I am in a hurry to get it finished for the Townsville Show. I am also hoping to finish off 2 quilts and make a small wallhanging. Wish me luck!

Three more totes

I am adoring the intense colours on these prints.

 Mermaid bag.

Stars in the Galaxy bag.

Deathly Hallows bag - the final part of Harry Potter where it all comes together.
Photos just don't capture the intense colours in these totes.

Are you ready for the plastic bag ban?

Harry Potter shopping tote

Only a few short weeks until the single use plastic bags will no longer be given out, and we will have to buy a bag, or carry something cute in our handbags for that unexpected lunchtime window shopping.

This is Harry Potter and the... ????
Which book is it from? Can you see the cat plates that were on the wall? The extendable ears? The mimbleus mimbletonia? the puking pastilles?

I am having such fun creating these shopping totes!

Healing Wishes bag and cards set

My latest oracle card bag creation... and I have decided to make one to keep, and one to sell.

Appliqued with the goddess symbol, embellished with free motion embroidery.

The appliqued heart is embellished with an angel dreamcatcher.

And the fabric is made from dandelions... the first wishes we made as children (apart from birthday wishes) were all on dandelions.
So here they are, one to keep, and one to sell.

Thanks for dropping by. x

Mummy's heart

It's the end of the month, and Mum has quilted 3 more quilts for me.

Neverland, quilted in tinkerbelles.

Be your own kind of beautiful, a boho tribute.

Up, up and away .... a fun quilt for young boys. Quilted by Mum with allover clouds.

 Biggest morning tea time.

Mmmm yummy, look at all of these.

What have you got? Mummy's heart, that's what. x

Monkey Too- Tada!

Ta-da!! Another quilt finished for the year.

There have been so many little items made this year, it's awesome to have some quilt finishes too. And a few more this year to come. I have two quilts to finish for the Townsville Show in July.

I love stripey fabric for bindings!

And this one even has a stripey backing.

These were the last pieces of a jelly roll that went together to make a total of 3 little quilts. I would say that has been pretty good value!

Quilted by Mum with jumping sock monkeys... it's a gorgeous quilt!

Lily of The Valley Quilt

I bought this charm pack, and the colours are so vivid, fresh, modern and exciting.

I thought it would make a great lap quilt with wide appeal.

This one is quilted by Mum with a gorgeous large French kind of flowy design.

Perfect for the cold weather descending upon us already.

I have another couple that just need binding.

I've been waiting for good weather for having a quilt sitting on my lap.

The cold snap is here in Far North Queensland, it's slipper weather!
