The Raven Update

The Raven quilt is getting closer and closer to completion. There are quite a few foundation pieced parts to add to the borders... I am looking forward to having this up for Halloween this year!

I am determined and focused to keep on.

Progress on "The Raven" quilt

Still a few details to go on some of these blocks - a leaf or two, a few berries.  I am finally up to the "most difficult" block, which is a house.

I use the freezer applique needleturn method, which means that i need the design to be reversed. Well guess what, the house in the centre is not quite symmetrical.

I really had to jiggle to get the yellow fabric underneath in the right spots.

I am super glad I left this to be the final block, because it's giving me the push I need to complete it. The "almost there" factor is doing it for me. I can see the finish line... I'd love to have this finished and hanging on my wall at the start of October.

I really haven't made much for myself this past year, and ravens mean so much to me.

I am so determined to complete this applique block, that I've taken this as my project today to quilt group. I usually take my sewing machine, but no. I am preparing block pieces. It's time.

I am getting so excited!

Rainbow bucket hat

I'm super excited to share this bright, fun hat for my 5yo. The hat I made for the commencement of prep is sometimes missing in the schoolyard, buried in the sandpit, or completely filthy.

It was fitting to make him another hat that is a bit more dirt resistant (only because it's white), and also because he really needed a spare. If I can't find his hat in the yard because it's too hot in the afternoon, he can't play in the morning.

I secretly love both these fabrics. I wonder which way he will choose to wear it!

***edit*** He loves both sides, originally he loved the stripey rainbow side more, but his teachers at school love the bright indigenous print so much, they hinted at me making them for all of them... but I don't really have the time or inclination to make a mass of hats for other people. (Bring on more personal sewing I say!!)

One altar cloth, three ways

Playing with this witchy altar cloth.. Lots of ways to set it up to make it speak in different ways.

You can use more crystals to create more of a crystal grid.

Saturn Eye Pillow

This is a spectacular piece, I've just made another two. I think that's the last I have in this fabric. Maybe I can order it again in the future, we don't really know with overseas shipping still.

It takes a lot of energy to hold space or this sacred geometry while I stitch. This one has 7 colour changes, freemotion stitching and some with the walking foot.

In his own crafting, 5yo has made me a "Saturn" eye pillow. Hahahahhhaha.

It's bits of paper stapled together with fluffy stuffing inside.

Thanks little man, I love it.

Teddy bears: a study

It's sewing group day, and I've stitched down the bears with MonoPoly invisible thread in a fine zig zag stitch.

I wanted to show you a little before and after of the bear faces.

The depth and difference is so striking.

These two have been stitched into the top now.

The back is pieced, the label is on... I just need to decide if I quilt it myself or give it to Mum.... Maybe I will get it to Mum, it's a gift, and professional quilting always looks better.

It's great to be stitching again!!
