The Finish

This is the entire finished quilt I made by cutting raw edge applique pieces ad lib.

I used one Anna Maria Horner print for the centre.

And a border print. Mixed with pink and green grudges.

Followed by a Kaffe Collective binding.

Using a limited fabric pallette was stimulating and fun!

The Kantha stitches were done with 2 rows in each colour, alternating.

Grunge green 9 patches on the corners.

And a neutral kind of beige through the centre.

It's hanging on my wall.

I don't know how all my quilts for home end up pink and green.

I do love the fabrics, even though I don't plan on having  pink and green decor as a whole.

A little relax

I needed to pull out something that didn't need much brain power.

Back to 'Tis The Season by Natalie Bird if The Birdhouse.

The colours are so pretty.

I've pulled the thread colours from this "ugly jumper" print which will be used in the border somehow.

The green?

Alright. So the question is  does it look like a tree?

My thoughts are No. 😭😭

I even tried out curved trunks by using the gingham.

It just doesn't work.

I will keep the orange and green blocks for something else.

I need another idea.

Time to leave this on the design wall to think about it when I walk past.

Its a maybe

Well this looks like it could work, let's try to make some greens to create a tree.

Such pretty fabrics! I love greens!!

I'm spray searching the heck out of these before I cut

Mostly, because I had to wash the vintage fabric which made it too soft. So it was sprayed, and I kept it consistent

I also loved working with highly starched fabric for the 100 modern quilt block quilt I made recently

Orange Tulas

I've made some blocks for the Monkey Wrench quilt (do you remember? It's vintage gingham with Tula Pink fabrics.

Then added a few more Tula pieces to the mix. I'd like to create some more key wrench blocks to create a colourwashed tree trunk or sun....

This could really work.

I feel I need to make more to really see whether it will work. Let's give it a crack.

Blanket stitchin

Found the perfect border fabric in my Stash and bought some new threads. I've been trying to spend a little each week or fortnight at my small local shop.

If we don't buy from our small shops  they will close!

I now have everything to keep working on these bears!

I don't have any idea who this will be for!!!

Do I have to give it away? I suppose so.

Goodbye Tula hat

I'm a crafty quilter whose main love language is to make things as gifts.

Here is the evidence that I'm also a Mum to a 6yo boy. It appears that he left his gorgeous hat (made from Tula Pink fabric) outside in the playground.

There's a big chunk of hat missing, like it's been mown over, but the real reason they found his hat was because a bush Turkey had made a nest in it.

Crikey! How Australian can you get?

I'm not in the mood to make him a new hat!!!

I'm off to stitch something that I'd like!

Beary Happy

I love watching the transition of these bears from blank to full of faces.

They come through looking 3 dimensional, just with a few marks from prisma pens and pencils.

I've taken the bears from a pattern by Lil' Blokes.

I also bought the bear fabrics from Lynn Hyland. She has closed her shop, but you can find her in Facebook with Tuesday specials on offer.

I have a 5 inch charm pack in purple and greens. These are going to work really well together!

Stay tuned for the next update. I need to look at background fabric next.
