Window planters

So one of those little sample pots went further than I thought it would..... It actually painted over 3 windox boxes.

First I put some wax on to make the paint resist adhering completely.

Then I lightly sanded the top coat of paint where I had waxed. I love that distressed finish.

Then I applied the transfers, left them overnight, and removed the paper over the next few days.

I love this Queen Bee Goddess window planter.

And even the transfer came out a bit rustic looking.

Love that Queen Bee.

And here is the next one...

Karma is only a bitch if you are....

Now Serving Karma with a side of everything.

Some plants that look a bit like poison herbs....

Maybe some poison mushrooms...

Kids creative time

So I asked the children what kind of cupcakes they wanted to make, and this is what they liked....

They all decorated some each.

I think they have more fun decorating them, then eating them.

Everyone made beards or moustaches or added eyes and lips.

Love Always block 3

I am enjoying the colours of these flowers...

I don't think the petals look quite distinct enough from the background, so I think it's going to need some embroidery outlines.

And the tiny fine pieces on the block also need to be made... i am going to try quarter inch strips folded in half to make 1/8 of an inch strips. Maybe in this beige-ish print.

Window boxes from the beginning....

And for my next project, here are the  window planters.

Quite large actually.

Starting with a gorgeous base of ash, which turns out almost black.

And then I opened the sample pots, and they turn out to have much less in them than I thought. 37ml pot but in more of a 70ml bottle. Let's see how far the paint goes.

And a beautiful bit of flower blossoms picked by my son. What a day!

The Sun King/Spirit in the Sky

Two songs came to me as  I created this spirit doll..

One line from the Beatles "Here comes .... the Sun King"

and that song "Spirit in The Sky"

He is warm power, with angel wings, and a glow.

He has gone to his forever home.

I always wonder what will come out when I am creating Spirit Dolls.

Oh Isis!

But first a tantalising peek at the finished piece....

Oh Isis! Your diving feminine energy glows here baby!

And here you can really see the extent of the stitching details....

I really feel connected to the ancient Egyptian pantheon. I've always been drawn to the pyramids, the mysticism, the symbolism, the constellations that line up over the great pyramid, the vibration within the great pyramid, the magick, the energy, the power, the alien connection.

I guess that's why the ankh is tattooed on my back on the throat chakra.

Blessings x

Love Always block 2

The first of the four main blocks for Love Always is totally complete.

I am using the same red grunge for all the stems, because even though I like the scrappy look, it still needs some cohesion. And the grunge is an ongoing fabric. There will be lots of stems in the applique borders.

There are a total of 4 vase blocks. I will need to do at least one more with a pink/muted red vase.

Looking forward to the next block!

Wonder and excitement

Today I am the absolute definition of proud Mumma, as my almost 4yo uses scissors on his own for the first time (only used them once before with assistance).

I drew these shapes for him to practise cutting out, and knock me over with a feather, look at his precision.

I am filled with wonder and excitement, and aglow with thoughts of innumerable possibilities for his future with such fine motor skills.

Musician? Sculptor? Artist? Painter? Miniature motor tinkerer?

Let's just say that I am delighted he has inherited some skills from his Mumma.

Love Always update

It's always exciting to sink one's teeth into a new project, and this one is no exception.

I am so enjoying the calm of the muted reds.

Not much more to do on this one before I snooze it.This is the centre, and I imagine quite a few people unpicked their centre medallion once the 4 surrounding blocks were made, because it would make or break the quilt composition.
