The Townsville Show

I do so miss the big quilting shows I used to visit all over Melbourne and central Victoria.

We do have an annual agricultural show here in Townsville, and the first year I went, I was shocked at how few exhibits there were. I have made it a personal mission to enter as much as I have on hand each year to make sure that others are inspired, the way I always am when I attend shows.

That is also one of the reasons why I chose to compile a blog. Looking at others creations makes me want to get into it!

A third prize in fete/fair stall items for the oven mitts.

First prize in free machine machine embroidery for the spirit tree.

Second prize in free motion machine embroidery for "I am the centre of my universe".

Flying witchies

Oh! This one has turned out more dynamic and interesting than I could have anticipated!!!

I am definitely going to be making more of these... I think at least three more, because it's gone, and I would like one for myself.

I am so enjoying machine quilting all of these mini wholecloth quilts.

Carnivorous Flower Fairy

I can't help but giggle at the funny side of this...

I love flower fairies as a child and young adult. I still have an address book. I loved a frieze on my wall, and I gazed at the images for long periods of time.

And so if I was to end up as a flower fairy, it is surely to be much like this lady, fairy of a carnivorous pitcher plant! hahahahah, talk about protected!!

I enjoyed outlining the pitchers in reds, and adding sparkle on sparkle to the wings to that they appear like gossamer.

So snuggly

You can see how snuggly this throw is...

I used the same sparkly green background fabric, and this one was also snapped up straight away, by a person who wanted 2 sister throws.

She is mostly housebound, and loves the pop of colour and comfort they bring.

Looking forward to making more of these!

Owl and Wolf altar cloths

Can you see the third eye on this owl? I so enjoyed stitching this one, and picking our various parts with quilting.

I used lots of threadwork to add dimension and contrast.

And another wolf quilted with words reminiscient of the spirit animal "Resilience, Strength, Intuition, Power"

Getting all set for my mini online market.

Yule in the Southern Hemisphere

It's almost Yule here in the Southern Hemisphere, and I did so love quilting this image, and adding fabric sparkly paint.

This altar cloth definitely needs a remake or three.

I love the colours and the quilting relief.

An altar cloth for Yule (mid winter celebrations).

Snuggly Throw

It's almost Winter here in far north Queensland, and although we don't need lots of blankets here very often, it's nice to have a fluffy throw for the couch or bed to keep the children extra warm.

The silvery green background is like the witch's garden and I love the silhouette of her and her cat...

This one was snapped up immediately! I can feel more of these coming on.

Proud mumma

At age 3 years and 9 months look at the way these stickers have been placed so carefully.

Natural correct pencil grip.

Every dot has a sticker on.

And he has traced aroung the outline of the seahorse, because he wanted to.

He has his Mumma's fine motor skills.

Other fabric creations

Sometimes a fabric creation means stretching a piece of $2 remnant leopard skin over a discarded shade marquee to make a cubby for the 3yo boy to slide down into.

And he has placed some favourite toys in there. The shape sorter and the buzzy bee game.

Perfect for us in far north Queensland where Winters mean long pants, tshirts and no rain.

$2 fabrics yay!!! And at that price, who cares if it doesn't last long?

Belly Dance costume

It's coming up to our annual bellydance concert, and this year our troup teacher decided we needed to wear jelebas, well... this version of one.

It has a cutout bust wher ethe bra shines and shows off.

I bought a stretch velvet fabric that had pearly beads stitched onto it. Oh! it was a bit of a disaster to sew! I couldn't sew a straight line for the seam, the beads were so big, I had to go around them, and if you pulled one out it left a huge hole. No wonder I got it on the bargain fabric pile!

As you can see there is more beading to go on the bra, but I am onto it, and will have it finished for the concert by end of August. And although you can't see, there are huge splits in the sides that go all the way up the legs for maximum movement.

What a stunning colour in the sky in our yard. Great inspiration.

Sparkly fairy towels

I love personalising towels. They add to the ambience of bathing rituals.

Cleansing on many levels, especially if we put 2 cups of epsom salts and a cup of sea salt into the bath as well.

These superb quality esprit bath sheets are super sized.

Sparkling and shimmery fabrics are stitched down.

I wonder if we will get to keep these!

Elven Landscape

Elven Landscape.

This altar cloth has been extensively quilted. I love the contrast of colours, shapes, the outlining...

I have a feeling this one will go to its forever home soon!

Quilted raven

I have an online mini market coming up, so the stitching of altar cloths is shifting gear!

I so love this raven and the contrast with the poppies and the bird skull (Symbol of regeneration).

Lots of fine quilting in this one. And sparkly fabric paints to add shimmer.

Howling Wolf and Malificient

This howling wolf turned out so well... can you see that he is on a rock in the ocean?

Hand painted with sparkly paints to add dimension. I have more of this fabric, and I can feel myself making a few more of these.

And also Malificient. I love her! Dark fairy that was wronged, but is the caretaker of the magickal land.

With some vines and extra twinkly fabric paint. I think I will need to make another one for myself.
