Quilts are for loving

Ah, holidays are grand... but it's great to be sewing again...

The cranes quilt will soon be finished with only the binding to go.....
Mum custom quilted it for me...
I was thinking of giving it to a particular friend... but I haven't seen or heard much from him lately... and this is quite a significant gift - I am contemplating other recipients that I know would appreciate it.
I enjoy the excitement of creating, and mixing fabrics... I enjoy the serenity that comes with the soothing of the stitch... but I don't need 80 quilts and wallhangings at home...
I prefer not to sell my creations - I don't think I would get my money back for the time it takes to sew. No, I would rather gift my quilts..
Have you ever gifted a quilt that was unappreciated? I've seen so many end up in cupboards (never used) or on the floor as a mat/rug.. or in the opp shop. It's just not right.... Quilts are for loving... given to show love, and to be used thinking of the love that went into the making.

Basket Case

After nearly a month without sewing, I'm probably more than a little crazy! I've been camping along the Great Ocean Road (at the beach) for nearly a month... I've been at the beach every day.. swimming, boogie boarding, ocean kyaking, walking, beach-combing... even reading! But there hasn't been any time I wanted to get my stitching sandy!! ...And there really isn't any space in a tent for a sewing machine! LOL!
I've been to Rosie's for a little fix. The basket case quilt top wasn't quite big enough. So, I've added borders... and here it is, ready for quilting. After quilting I'll make some 3D flowers to stitch on - the idea being that they will appear to jump out of the baskets...
I'm not really liking the colour in the photo, but I took the photo with my phone....
